Project Background

The Canadian Carmelite Charitable Society set out to build a completely new gathering facility on their 80-acre property in Deroche, BC. This two-phase project consists of 20 self contained rooms, dining hall, chapel, library, lobby, laundry, meeting rooms, and more. The project also consisted of clearing the land for the building site and new access road, large septic system, and backup generator power system. The buildings are constructed entirely from Cross Laminated Timbers (CLT). CLTs were chosen because they are a sustainable resource (wood) and can create a building with high insulation value. A biomass heating system was also installed to utilize wood chips sourced from the client’s own property.

Our Solution

As experts in CLT construction, the project has been a great success in terms of budget, timeline, and building quality. The client celebrated a successful completion of Phase 1 with a 600-person inauguration and made sure to highlight our AHC site super and team during the ceremony.
