Fernie BC Timber Frame: Timber Raising Day!

Posted by: Alfred Horie Construction | Posted on: December 3rd, 2012 | 0 Comments

The most exciting part of building a timber frame home – the day the timbers get raised!

It was fitting that the sun came out as our crew planned the raising of the large bents and main timber posts. One of the benefits that Riverbend Timber Framing offers is having all timbers pre-fitted at our shop prior to shipping to the building site.

As promised this frame was installed without any issues saving unwanted costs with delays. Now that these impressive OAK timbers are now in place, the plates that the SIP wall panels will sit on are installed, and this week we will see some progress in the shell taking shape as the crew assembles the pre-fabricated walls. More timbers will be placed and “socketed” into the Structural Wall Panels – allowing the home owners a great look with exposed timbers on the ceiling, but allowing non-timbered interior walls for cabinets, etc. (this referred to as a “hybrid”).

The home owner was able to visit the site and had this to say…”  Just a quick word of thanks for all the excellent work to date.   We just toured the place and we are extremely happy with the way it’s taking shape.”

AHC Timber Frame Ltd, division of the AHC Group is the authorized dealer for Riverbend Timber Frame for the province of British Columbia and looks forward to finishing 2012 erecting this impressive home, and continuing into 2013 with the many new opportunities that lie ahead.

Stay tuned next week, as we continue to update the progress of this home…
