Black Rock Place
Black Rock Estates is an eight lot subdivision in Fernie BC developed by AHC. The goal was to design and build a custom timber frame home using solid oak timbers by Riverbend Timber Frame and provide high energy efficiency using Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP). AHC had recently expanded into the timber frame and SIP industry and was eager to share with their clients the beauty and convenience of these products when designing and building a resort dream home.
As the western regional dealer for Riverbend Timber Frame homes, AHC had numerous plans and designs to choose from. With ease, they took their own design to accommodate the slope of the land and surrounding views. They worked with Riverbend’s in-house consultants to create a template to cut the solid oak timbers and SIPs. The pieces were shipped on a truck with a crane to the building location. The AHC team was able to erect and build an air tight custom home, with windows and doors installed, within 5 working days! With the short outdoor building season of the Canadian Rockies, AHC was able to complete the interior in a warm and sealed environment.
It is a beautiful home. The windows capture the beauty of the surroundings while the solid oak timbers fill the home with comfort and an era resembling that of times past. The homes energy efficiency is very noticeable and something more and more of my clients are looking for.
